Treating Cancer with Plants

Catharanthus roseus (Madagascar periwinkle), a common ornamental, is the source of two drugs that can cure childhood leukemia and Hodgkin’s disease.

During Cancer Awareness Month, Dr. Wendy Applequist, the Garden's assistant curator of economic botany, presents the important role that plants play in cancer treatment.
